Contributions fund the Miles of Care pediatric heart surgery travel grants, Chapter’s Coffee Cafe vocational training at Lewiston Public Library, hospital welcome baskets, and the Lewiston Library Down Syndrome Collection.

Four Dedicated Ways Your Contribution Changes Lives in Niagara County
1. Miles of Care Travel Fund
Nearly half of infants born with Down syndrome experience congenital heart defects. When a Niagara County child must travel out of town (such as to Rochester or Boston) for specialized pediatric cardiac surgery, Miles of Care provides direct grants for fuel, lodging, meals, and hospital parking.
2. Chapter’s Coffee Cafe (305 S 8th St)
Opened December 3, 2024 inside the Lewiston Public Library, Chapter’s Cafe empowers young adults and adults with Down syndrome to gain customer service, hospitality, and point-of-sale skills every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
3. Down River Run 5K & Buddy Walk
Event sponsorships underwrite race timing, park permits at Fort Niagara State Park, commemorative lime-green Buddy Walk t-shirts for individuals with Down syndrome, and family picnic hospitality during the Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival.
4. Hospital Packets & Library Books
Gifts purchase up-to-date developmental guides, speech milestones books, and teacher inclusion toolkits housed permanently at the Lewiston Public Library (305 South 8th Street, Tel: 716-754-4720) and delivered to new parents.
